Lacoma Golf offers the best way to learn to play golf in the Dubuque area. We provide golf lesson programs for junior golfers, beginning adult golfers, and experienced players. And Lacoma Golf is the only open-to-the-public, Dubuque area golf facility with complete golf practice facilities so you can practice what you learn. All instruction programs are developed and led by our experienced LPGA Golf Professional – Paula Ketchum
Get Golf Ready
You can learn to golf at Lacoma by participating in our Get Golf Ready Program. The PGA’s Get Golf Ready system consists of a series of five group golf lessons taught by Lacoma’s head golf professional – Paula Ketchum. This program provides a comprehensive golf lesson plan so that new golfers can learn and begin to enjoy the game as quickly as possible. At Lacoma, Get Golf Ready gives you perks for an even better value, including:

Get Golf Ready at Lacoma provides over $300 in services for only $135!
At Lacoma, you’ll learn to play golf through a program called Get Golf Ready. The PGA created Get Golf Ready as an innovative system of golf instruction system designed to introduce the game of golf to beginning adult players. Get Golf Ready consists of a series of five group golf lessons that cover all elements of golf – including the rules of the game, correct grip, stance, and alignment, proper swing technique for each club, and appropriate golf etiquette and safety.
With Lacoma Golf’s version of Get Golf Ready, you’ll learn play and you get perks! The program includes:
-Five, one-hour group golf lessons provided on a once-per-week basis for five consecutive weeks.
-A single membership to Lacoma’s Par 3 course for the entire season. Our Par 3 course consists of only short Par 3 holes and offers a perfect environment to practice what you’ve learned.
-Complimentary access to Lacoma’s practice range through the duration of your lessons.
-Complimentary usage of Lacoma rental clubs during lessons.
2026 Get Golf Ready Line-up
This year’s Get Golf Ready program consists of five group golf lessons with sessions beginning in May. The schedule is:

Junior Golf Lessons at Lacoma
The best way to get the Junior Golfer in your life on the path to golfing success is through golf lessons provided by an experienced LPGA Golf Professional. At Lacoma, your junior golfer will learn to play golf by participating in one of three different junior golf lesson programs. Our junior golf programs teach the game in a fun but structured environment on Lacoma’s unmatched golf practice facilities. Paula Ketchum, our LPGA professional, leads all junior golf lesson programs at Lacoma.
Junior Program
Lacoma Golf offers two different junior golf instruction programs, one for beginners and a second for junior golfers with some experience. These programs, each offering a series of seven golf lessons, are tailored to meet the needs of your junior golfer. All junior golf lesson programs are taught by a team of Lacoma’s experienced staff led by Paula Ketchum, an LPGA professional with 30 years of experience.
Junior Golf Lesson Detailed Schedule:
JUNIOR PROGRAM
Lacoma’s Junior Golf Program takes place on seven consecutive Thursdays beginning on June 12.
Cost: $100 per child.
Remaining Dates: July 30 – August 6 (ice cream social)
Time: 8:00 – 9:30 AM (Beginner lessons)
Time: 9:45 – 11:15 AM (Intermediate lessons)
Additional Benefits:

Lacoma Golf’s LPGA Golf Professional, Paula Ketchum, offers private, one-on-one golf instruction tailored to your specific golf needs. Whether you’re just getting started in golf or are an experienced player, Paula can help you improve.
The best way to improve your golf game is golf lessons from a PGA Golf Professional. Paula Ketchum, Lacoma’s LPGA Professional has over 20 years of experience in providing golf lessons to players of all skill levels.
And at Lacoma, we now offer golf lessons year round using golf simulators from HD Golf!
With HD Golf’s suite of tools, our professionals can analyze every aspect of your swing via state-of-the-art ball tracking and video swing analysis. All the individual golf lesson rates listed below are good for indoor golf lessons.

PGA Teaching Professional - Paula Ketchum
Paula comes to us from the Portland Oregon metro area where she has amassed 22 years of teaching golf to a diverse clientele. Paula spent the last 12 years as a full-time golf instructor at Redtail Golf Center where she uses both the Trackman Swing Analysis System and V1 video Technology. Additionally, Paula is a former men’s and women’s High School coach and provided golf instruction and caddying services to a Japanese student aspiring to qualify for the LPGA tour. Paula herself is an LPGA apprentice pursuing her Class A LPGA certification. An Iowa native, Paula graduated from Mount Mercy in Cedar Rapids and attended Drake University in Des Moines.
